Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026
LaunchDay ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use, store, and protect it.
1. Who We Are
LaunchDay is a small South African team that designs, builds, and hosts websites for small businesses. For the purposes of POPIA, LaunchDay is the "responsible party" for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions, see the Contact Us section below.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information you give us directly, including:
- Your name, business name, and job/business details
- Your WhatsApp number, phone number, and email address
- Information about your business (services, hours, location, social media links) that you submit so we can build your site
- Your logo and photos, if you upload them
- Payment information processed via our payment provider, PayFast (we do not see or store your card details ourselves — see section 5)
We also automatically collect limited technical information when you visit our website, such as your general location, browser type, and pages visited, via standard analytics tools (e.g. Google Search Console).
3. Why We Collect It
We use your personal information to:
- Build, host, and maintain your website
- Communicate with you about your order, site, or account (mostly via WhatsApp or email)
- Process your setup and monthly hosting payments
- Provide support and respond to your requests
- Improve our website and services
- Comply with our legal and accounting obligations
We do not use your information for any purpose other than what it was collected for, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (building and hosting your site), because you have consented to it (e.g. submitting our forms), or because we have a legitimate business interest in doing so, such as responding to your enquiries or keeping basic business records.
5. Sharing Your Information
We only share your personal information with third parties where it's necessary to deliver our services, including:
- PayFast — to process your setup and monthly payments securely. PayFast has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your payment details.
- Domain registrars — to register your .co.za domain on your behalf.
- Hosting & infrastructure providers — to host your website and business email.
We do not share your information with any other third party for marketing or advertising purposes. Where a third party processes personal information on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to ensure they protect it in line with POPIA.
6. Storage & Security
We store your information on reputable, secured hosting infrastructure and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. We do not retain your personal information for longer than necessary — if you cancel your hosting, we take your website offline and do not retain a copy of your site content (see our Terms & Conditions), though we may retain basic contact and billing records as required for accounting and legal purposes.
7. Cookies
Our website may use minimal cookies or similar technologies required for basic functionality and to understand how visitors use our site. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising or tracking.
8. Your Rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate or outdated information
- Ask us to delete personal information we no longer have a valid reason to hold
- Object to our processing of your personal information, or withdraw consent, where applicable
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully
To exercise any of these rights, message us on WhatsApp or email us, details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
9. Information Regulator
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Details are available at inforegulator.org.za.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our services or legal obligations change. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
11. Contact Us
